How the weighted grade calculator works

The formula

Course grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weights)

Each score is multiplied by its weight, the products are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights you entered. When the weights total 100%, the answer is your final course grade. When they total less — because the final exam is not taken yet, for example — the answer is your grade across the work completed so far.

Scores and weights

Enter scores as percentages. If your teacher gives points instead (say 45 out of 50), convert first: 45 ÷ 50 = 90%. Weights come straight from your syllabus grading breakdown.

Worked example

Homework 92% (weight 20), midterm 84% (weight 30), quizzes 78% (weight 10): (92×20 + 84×30 + 78×10) ÷ 60 = (1840 + 2520 + 780) ÷ 60 = 5140 ÷ 60 = 85.67% — a B across the 60% of the course counted so far.

Frequently asked questions

How does weighted grading work?

Each category counts for its weight of the final grade. Multiply each score by its weight, add the products, and divide by the total weight entered. Homework at 92% with weight 20 contributes 92 x 0.20 = 18.4 points toward the course grade.

My weights do not add up to 100%. Is that a problem?

No. Teachers often release grades before every category is complete. This calculator averages the work you enter in proportion to its weight and tells you how much weight is still outstanding, so the number is honest about what it covers.

What letter grade matches my percentage?

EduKit uses the common scale shown on the Result & Grade Checker page: A = 90% and above, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = 60-69%, F = below 60%. Your school may round or curve differently, so treat the letter as a guide.

Can I include extra credit?

Yes — add it as its own row with its weight, or add the bonus points to the score of the assignment it applies to. If a score above 100% is allowed in your class, you can type that too.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. The rows exist only in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and refreshing the page clears them.
